Change

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)

Change is never easy. A death in the family, a new brother or sister, divorce, lost job, or kids growing up are hard to handle. Without the truth of scripture, counsel of the Spirit of God, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ – change will blind a man. What is best and right will be lost. Change can be a wonderful thing when it is filtered through the love of God. He knows what each of us need. This poem echoes the beauty that comes from allowing God’s change to take shape.

You say, “You will give me rest,
You know what’s best.
You lead my ways.
You clear life’s haze.”

It’s changed my life, given hope for the future.
It’s changed my heart, brought peace for the day.
It’s changed my soul, birthed life from death.
I see clearly, knowing you’ll stay.

I can’t conceive love without you.
I can’t see any other way.
I can’t perceive life without you.
I’m thankful for what you say.

Questions:
What causes you to feel that God has not changed you?

How can you believe that God has and is changing you?

Prayer:
Father, thank you for loving me so much to never leave my side. I am nothing without you. Help me to fix my eyes on you. Help me to believe that my failures do not shape our relationship, to trust that your love will change me, and will never let me go.
