Jesus says, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NIV)
Life is a compilation of choices. Good or bad, these choices shape us. The problems come from how we deal with the consequences of our choices. God assures us that no matter the consequences He will be there with us. When we give Jesus permission to enter our lives, direct our choices, and redeem our consequences it changes our perspective. No matter how easy or difficult our life, through Christ, we are overcomers. This poem echoes the struggle we face.
Each day grows cold and stale
When the wind of dreams catch no sail.
The years grow old full of wonder.
Excuses, abuses erupt like thunder.
Life’s youth quickly fades,
And a callused life awaits.
In wonder the façade cannot conceal
What’s inside is so real.
Looking back with smiles that ease
Pain’s cocoon gives life to peace.
With not regrets the page is turned
The life, meaning, fully earned.
Just as I am without a one plea,
I surrender all to thee.
Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because His blood was shed for me.
Trust and obey for there’s No other way,
This is my story, this is my song.
Question:
How can you allow God to shape your story?
Prayer:
God, thank you for overcoming sin through Jesus. Help me to rest in your promises and believe that Jesus has overcome the world. I want to find my strength in Christ alone. Amen.
