Jesus, the Perfect King

Christmas 2015When it comes down to it, society is made up of little kingdoms controlled by little kings. Something in us instinctively desires to build a kingdom of our own liking. Take a minute to imagine how you would handle loosing everything you have. Not very pleasant is it? It’s because you don’t want to loose your kingdom. Scripture is clear on this subject.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Matthew 16:26

Wanting our own kingdom is not all bad. It reveals a God given desire to want to be a part of something bigger. The catch is letting go and aligning with God’s Kingdom. He is the perfect King. Isaiah foreshadows the coming King’s birth and reveals why Jesus is the perfect king.

6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7
